Social Value and its Measurement in the Third Sector

The research "Social value and its measurement in the third sector" is focused on measuring the social value of social enterprises, which form part of the conceptual framework of the third sector. Social enterprises currently face the challenge of assessing and measuring social value (social impact). Demonstrating social value is required by many stakeholders, including social enterprises themselves. There are many approaches to measuring social value, but none has been widely adopted, and the field is characterized by methodological pluralism. In the Czech Republic, the area of social value measurement in the third sector is still under-researched, despite the current political and economic climate, where stakeholder demands for indicators that can capture the performance of organizations are increasing. As in other countries, there is no uniformly accepted tool for measuring social value or social impact. The main objective of the research, which is divided into two sub-research "Measuring the social value of social enterprises" and "Longitudinal study", is to measure the social value of social enterprises in the Czech Republic and to perform their mutual comparison (benchmarking). Social entrepreneurship as a possibility of increasing employment of the mentally disabled person in the South Bohemia Region

The goal of the bachelor thesis is an evaluation of social entrepreneurship as a possiblity to increase employment of mentally disabled people in the South Bohemia Region. In the theoretic part is defined a social entrepreneurship- a current situation in the Czech republic, a legislation; then it is described a social enterprise and its principles and indicators; definition of foreign experience with the social entrepreneurship. Next the theoretic part defines an employment and a position of mentally disabled people in the labour market. The practical part deals with quantitative research ( by the questionnaire), whether the social enterprises contribute to increase employment of mentally disabled people and if they help to integrate mentally disabled people into the society.
Position of social enterpreneurship in european regions

The main goal of my Diploma thesis is to describe current position of social enterprises in chosen European regions on the basis of questionnaire survey and statistical data. The respondents who were asked for answers are representatives of organisations providing support services for social enterprises. They are experts in the field and could answer on the basis of their long-time experience. The first, theoretical part of the thesis consists of definition and explanations of basic terms needed for understanding the concept of social economy and social enterprises. In this part traditional approaches, history, development and legal backgrounds are described. The second, practical part describes the main questions of research, describe respondents´ answers and on the basis of it the results are compared and evaluated. At the end of the thesis final summary is written and recommendations are suggested.
The role of NGOs in tackling unemployment

The thesis topic is the role of the non-profit sector in the field of unemployment solutions. The first part relates the consequences of unemployment and non-profit activities and highlights their importance in mitigating the effects of unemployment. This part also points out impact of non-profit organizations to increase employment and employability. In the next chapter, using examples from practice outlines the possibilities of cooperation between the NGOs and public administration. The third part focuses on statistical data on unemployment in the Czech Republic and then in more detail in the Vysočina Region. The final section describes in detail activities of NGO Fokus Vysočina and also several other examples of activities of social enterprises in the Vysočina Region. The conclusion summarizes the results and gives recommendations for further improvement.
